A Powerful Engine to Make Things Happen

A Powerful Engine to Make Things Happen

Tools are important but effecting real change isn't about the tools or even the methods. It's about how an organization provides leadership for the change. When large-scale change goes well, there's a "guiding coalition" driving it. This is a group of people from all over the organization—top to bottom, marketing to engineering, veteran to novice—who bring different information with them and coalesce to think through initiatives, break down barriers and gain quick wins. Who has the right stuff? Look for people with leadership skills, a sense of urgency, credibility, and connections and relationships within the organization. When you have the right people in place as part of this coalition, then you’ll have a very powerful engine to make things happen.
