Joanne Sauvey

Joanne Sauvey
Principal
With BMGI since 2000
United States

Smart, dedicated and dynamic describes Joanne. She began her adult life right out of the chute as the valedictorian of her high school class and second in her college industrial and systems engineering class. She might have been first, but “I had too much fun my senior year!”

As BMGI’s first eInstructor, Joanne developed the firm’s original online Green Belt and Black Belt curricula. One of her initial eLearning groups was a team of executives from a New Zealand company. While juggling global time zones, Joanne recalls leading weekly online meetings via webinar to help team members complete their training, projects and certifications.

“Setting up these meetings and the lessons I learned in general became the foundation for the procedures I use today when teaching eLearning groups,” Joanne says.

Problems I'd Love to Solve:
Folks who throw recyclable items into the trash
People in the express checkout with 25 items

Joanne loves her job because she can be flexible with her working hours and, at the same time, is accessible to her clients on any day or at any time.

When not working, Joanne boats and fishes with her family, reads (mostly history and period mysteries) and is involved in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. She also loves sports and is a diehard Cleveland Indians and Browns fan (she lives in Ohio).

Most impressively, and largely before she had her two children, Joanne has traveled to about 50 countries with her mom, aunt and sister. She remembers visiting China 20 years ago when there still weren’t a lot of Western tourists. “Everywhere we went, people wanted their picture taken with me,” she remembers. “Our tour guide had to explain that many Chinese people had never seen a blonde in person before.”

Another traveling highlight was staying in Cairo just across the street from the pyramids. Joanne says it was amazing to see the pyramids as she ate dinner, laid out at the pool and looking out the window of her hotel room. “I will never forget it!”

My Words of Wisdom:
Treat others as you would like to be treated. If you treat others with respect and act with integrity, it's easier to sleep at night.
